My Mother's Day Sunflower

Back on Mother's Day I got a flat of sunflowers from work. I gave them to my neighbors except for one I kept for my self. The thing got HUGE!! The head was about 18" diameter. This picture was on Aug 29th, still not full grown.

Jeremy cut the head off the flower and we started harvesting the seeds. It was crazy! The boys had a hayday pulling the seeds out. We had to get on the net and figure out how to salt and toast them. It was actually a lot of fun. I think we have a new tradition in the Wood family.
Here they are all salted and toasted...  I was proud, and they taste awesome!
